Emulators : Software to play many arcade and classic games console games.
System Utilities : Network settings management. Background Skins folder. Flash Bios Utility.
Applications : Through Evox only the main Applications can be accessed here - to use many other apps open either Media Centre and select Programs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Main Notes for modded XboxTM use:

 

You can backup your "C" & "E" partition when networked to your PC- if ever the Xbox is corrupted you can burn the contents of C to a CDRW or DVD and this will boot your xbox

 

 

 

 

TO COPY GAME OR DATA TO XBOX

 

Use DVD2Xbox to make a backup copy of your Data DVD's.
DVD2Xbox will copy a DVD Movie as well but will store it in .VOB format which can take up to 9 Gig per movie - user can compress DVD .VOB file to Divx or Xvid and compressing to a smaller file format with minimal loss of quality and only use less than1 gig of HDD space. Movies downloaded from the internet are usually in these formats.

-INSERT GAME DISC & follow the onscreen instructions
-HD Loader backups the games to drive E or F in ""Games"" Folder or ""hdloader"" Folder ---

 

 

NOTE: A small handful of games will not work from HDLoader- for these few games use DVD2Xbox.

 

 

Games loaded will automatically list in the "Games" menu item on boot up of Xbox - as long as you install them in a "Games" folder in E,F or G partition.
Movies and pictures and Music can be played from the "Media Player 3" Menu item.

 

XBMC - MEDIA PLAYER / CENTRE

 

To Play PICTURES JPG BMP/ VCD MPEG AVI MP3 DIV-X SVCD XVID VOB WMA WMV or stream media files off a PC

 

Select Media Player 3 item on the Boot up screen in Modded state - or
-LAUNCH MENU
-APPLICATIONS
-MEDIA PLAYER 2.9
-and cycle through partitions and menus inside the media player using red and green buttons on controller to find desired media.
To watch Features go through folders and press green button on desired media to play. Use red button on controller as back button for finding folders.
You can "Stack" successive DVD Vobs by selecting "Stack" in the Left hand menu of "Videos" which puts all VOB files into a single file.

 

My Programs lists all Games saved to the Hard drive and many more applications.

 

In settings there are many Video and Audio settings for you to fine tune your media experience.

XBOX GENERAL USAGE FUNCTIONS

 

 

a. How to go fast through menus hold left or right shoulder buttons and move up or down using D Pad. (Left Thumb on Xbox Controller)

 

b. How to reboot system from any menu or in a game or when stuck, press both Left right shoulder buttons and press the "Start and Back" buttons on the xbox controller all at once. This may not work on some Xbox systems. But if you need this function bring in the Xbox to have it installed.

 

c. How to change /select a different TV Signal Enigmah Video Switch in the Applications menu item - changes the Xbox to NTSC or PAL output mode. NTSC = High Definition output and gives color to NTSC movies when playing on PAL TV. High Definition Mode is established when using Component Video Connectors (Red Green Blue) or on High Definition TV/Plasma/Projectors after selecting NTSC in Enigmah then go to the standard Xbox Dashboard and go into the Xbox Video Settings - now you will be able to select from all the progressive scan modes not present otherwise. Select them all as "YES" and reboot the Xbox- The Xbox Media Player has resolution changes as well in the Settings TAB- select "appearance" and here select 16:9 720p or Auto.

 

d. How to play DVD movies from any region DVDX (in the applications menu) allows all region DVD Movies to play without a remote controller for DVD playback just use your standard Xbox controller to implement the DVD remote functions entirely. Macrovision is removed. Use the Small Black button on your Xbox Controller to bring up an onscreen help item. Zone Free player. You can also play your DVD Movies from the Media Player by selecting My videos from the list and opening the D Partition- or select Auto load DVD Movies in the Media Player Settings TAB.

 

e. How to find original Xbox boot screen (audio,video etc) select the "MS Dashboard" item in the startup screen To Boot out of MS Dashboard (Original Dashboard of Xbox) you must turn off unit manually to reset back. Some modded Xbox consoles if setup with locked hard drive can find the Original MS Xbox dashboard by a quick tap on the power button or a quick tap on the eject button - when starting the xbox.

 

f. Change the background Skin - Turn on the xbox go to SYSTEM UTILITIES - then SKINS Folder. The skins folder is found in C or E Drive - You can make and add your own Skins using any one of the existing skins as a template.

 

g. Online Gaming- a standard Xbox can only connect to the official gameserver which they charge money for. Your modded Xbox can play FREE Online. Go to one of these links from Google:

NETWORKING

 

 

To connect Xbox to PC use an FTP program (File Transfer Protocol) for Networking on your computer which you can download from the internet, the one we recommend is called Flash FXP which you can get a trial version from www.flashfxp.com or do a Google search for "Flash FXP Download"- install it on your computer and use standard type network cables just as though connecting to another PC -then follow these guidelines:

 

The program Xbox Tools if installed on your Xbox allows 2 or more modified Xboxs to be networked (without a PC) so data and files can be transferred or shared between Xbox's.

 

Static IP means assigning your own IP address / DHCP means allowing the network to automatically assign an IP address for your PC or Xbox.

 

For Static IP :

IP address can be changed in "settings" folder of the xbox when in modded state 'turned on' - 192 168 0 3 is the default setting we use. The [User

Name: xbox]--[Password: xbox).

Use a 'Crossover' cable if connecting directly to a PC or another Xbox without a hub or Standard Network cable when connecting to a hub. Go into your PC networking protocol folder or right click on "My Network Places" and select "properties" Highlight the "Local Area Connection " you use to connect your xbox to and right click on it and select properties and then select the TCP/IP by highlighting it and click on the properties tab- and select "USE THE FOLLOWING IP ADDRESS" and type in 192.168.0.8 then hit the TAB key on your keyboard to auto select 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask then hit the "OK" button.

If you already have an IP allocated and dont want to change it (you only have one Network card in the PC) hit the "Advanced "tab and hit the "ADD" IP tab here you can select more IPs to add to your connection list -That easy.
If using Static IP in your Xbox Settings Folder Usually found in "System Settings" or "Utilities" of the Xbox remember to set the default Gateway and DNS Server both to : 0.0.0.0

 

Then open Flash FXP on your PC and hit connect (menu item that looks like lightning bolt) and enter the XBox IP address of 192.168.0.3 in the URL field, and the user name -xbox and password -xbox and press the connect tab. Remember to either disable your firewall or allow the xbox IP address in the firewall software and also remember to leave your AV leads plugged in the back of the Xbox (Some Xbox only) (the other end does not have to be plugged into a TV)

Flash FXP can allow up to 4 connections at a time.

 

Or

 

Open a Windows Explorer Window and type in the following:

ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.3/

This will bring up all of the Xbox partitions in the Explorer window - Double click on any partition to open -you can type any of the partition letters after the above address to go directly to that partition eg. ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.3/F/
You can map all xbox partitions on your PC which saves the partition address for later use (these will remain saved once used- use the Explorer address bar drop down arrow - near the "Go" Button)

 

With Explorer you do not need an FTP program.

From the connected Explorer window you can drag and drop files from your computer into any area of your Xbox.

DHCP :

 

Go into the "Settings" folder of your xbox and where it indicates the option of - "Static IP" select "NO" (Default is Yes)
Connect your Xbox into HUB or directly into PC using the correct cable. Reboot your Xbox and an IP address should now appear on the opening screen. Write this IP address down and Start Flash FXP on your PC and enter this Ip address in the URL field after hitting the quick connect feature, and the user name -xbox and password -xbox and press the connect tab. Remember to either disable your firewall or allow the xbox IP address in the firewall software.

 

After establishing a Network -open E Partition on the Xbox and transfer and execute the file called " Xbox-Hq PC Essentials" on your PC by double clicking. This will self install many useful PC/Xbox Tools.

 

 

 

 

XBOX LINUX INSTALLATION

 

Gentoox Proffessional and Home are the recommended Linux versions for Xbox can operate with a Keyboard and Mouse attached using the Xbox USB connector. Gentoox has an on screen keyboard - which means you can navigate it with your xbox controller.
Other Linux versions include Debian, Red Hat etc. A great place to visit www.sourceforge.net

XBOX EMULATORS

 

Xbox can play no less than 35 different game machine games including Arcade Classics like Pacman, Galaga, Street Fighter, Metal Slug etc and includes consoles like N64, Megadrive, Supernintendo, PSOne, Commodore64, GBA etc. All Emulators are installed in the folder named “EMULATORS" which is found in either F, G or E partition. Each emulator is in its own folder & games (zips or roms) are added to the “ROMS” folder of each emulator."games"are NOT installed// empty ROMS folders are set up to assist in defining areas to install which is found in each emulator folder. - Emulators are available for free on the internet then use FTP or CD to install onto the xbox.TM. All quality Emulators come attached with a text file on procedure to install. Each emulator runs its own type of games. The Playstation 2 emulator is not available yet. there are no less than 35 emulators available now for xbox. Use www.Google.com to search for emulators Roms or Zips - Games.

XBOX SETTINGS

 

Settings contains various info and networking protocols and should be left to default unless experienced. For connecting directly to a PC easiest to set "Use Static IP" To "YES" // set to "NO" to use DHCP.

XBOX XPLORER

 

File Partition Managers like Xbox Xplorer and the Media player "My Files" tab allows user to make new folders/ delete/copy etc all contents or information within the xbox - a PC is not required to swap data or change files etc. Press "Start" button on controller to show partitions /then select the partition you wish to browse. The small silver button on the controller brings up the command menus. Generally the left and right shoulder buttons on your controller swap between 2 different partitions.
XCommander is a file manager for the XBox. It is similar to the old
Norton Commander. You have two file windows and can copy files between them.XCommander supports gamepad and USB keyboards. Blade sells the USB Adaptors.

boXplorer is a file manager and can launch other application or games (*.XBE files generally Default.xbe. You can even use boXplorer to rip DVD or CDs to the Xbox harddrive without having to copy the files to your PC first..

 

 

 

 

 

Basic Guide -To install new programs or emulators

 

There are 7 partitions on the xbox named c d e f x y z These can easily be seen if using Network with PC or Boxplorer in the applications folder. To show the Partitions in Boxplorer just press the "Start" button on the controller to show each of the partitions and the sizes of each. Press the Green button on the controller to select a partition and see the contents. The triggers on the controller L and R change between 2 selected partitions and the small silver button on the controller displays a command menu where user can create new folder / rename / and or move/copy contents from one partition to another.

 

c: holds the operating system
d: is the DVDRom and shows the contents of the XBox dvd rom (eg. game/music/dvd...etc)
e: is the programs folder holding all the applications on the XboxTM and some small free space about 5 Gig
f: is your main Free space area where you can create Movie/Game/Picture/Music...etc folders and store all your data.
g: if installed is like F
x,y &z: are very small swap file partitions needed for the xbox to run.

In "C" Partition: there is a .ini file you can open this using a text app like Notepad or Wordpad - this file has all the menu settings for your modded xbox .

Different Brands of DVD recordable discs

may read better than others.

 

NOTE: Xbox Consoles are manufactured with a few different brands of DVD Drives. Samsung Drives are OK at reading CDR/CDRW/DVD/DVDRW but the other types of laser drives best use CDRW or DVD.

 

Phillips Drives use DVD+ very well
Samsung use DVD- very well
Thompson use either DVD+ or -

 

To Back up copy an Xbox Game you MUST network the Xbox to a PC and put the game inside the Xbox- open the Xbox D partition using one of the network methods above and copy the contents of the game to your PC - then the data can be burned using a Burning program like Nero, Veritas or Sonic Record Now Deluxe. Burning as Data is fine or you can "ISO" the data into an image first using "XISO" (XISO available to download off the internet)
